Makita’s Lithium Ion Xtreme Technology

Makita’s new range of Lithium-Ion tools is regarded by the company as its most exciting development since their first cordless tool launch.

Because Makita Lithium-Ion is not simply a new bigger battery 'bolted on' to existing tools, but a whole new range of tools designed and built from the ground up to combine cutting edge lithium technology with cutting edge tool design in a total package of excellence.

Makita Japan has spent many millions of dollars on research and development to create Lithium. The results - a superb lineup of drills, hammer drills, impact drivers, circular and recipro saws, angle grinders and an auto feed screw gun, all packed with unique features of real benefit to the end user.

Welcome to Makita LXT Lithium-Ion - lighter, longer, stronger, smarter.

Lighter Lighter Stronger Smarter

280% More Stamina
Longer life is achieved through better recharging using Makita’s Optimum Charging System with unique Active 3 controls - current, voltage and thermal.

This ensures the battery will last longer than other batteries, delivering 280% greater lifetime work.

Each tool delivers 2 times more battery cycles for longer life. And recharging is an incredible 20 minutes.

With Makita’s 4 pole motor energy is generated every 90° rather than 180° on the magnetic field. This enables higher efficiency of energy consumed at a smaller space ratio. So the motor can deliver greater power and maximum torque.

The motor is supported by two steel ball bearings for more durability. Both the brushes and armature are replaceable.

The new Lithium-ion cell technology has enabled Makita to produce extra powerful cordless tools in lighter, compact bodies - up to 40% lighter than an equivalent 18 volt 3.0AH Ni-MH battery. In part this is due to the cell design. High energy density cells are lighter in weight.

The configuration reduces number of cells required, and makes the unit more compact.

Lithium-Ion diagnostics also include a battery checker which can read the history of any Makita Lithium battery, diagnose the condition of the battery and the way it has been treated, then advises how to maximize the battery life.
