In the interest of user safety, Makita NZ Ltd is undertaking a voluntary safety recall of Makita Petrol Chainsaw models DCS6401, PS6400, DCS7301, PS7300, DCS7901 and PS7900 for replacement of band guard and braking mechanism.
Hazard: The automatic chain brake activation is not smooth and when a kickback occurs the chain brake may not stop the chain as expected. A rotating chain after kickback poses an injury hazard to users. (No injuries have been reported). .
What to do: Stop using your chainsaw immediately. All serial number will be adapted to recall. Take it into the store you bought it from or to the nearest Makita Authorised Service Agent. Makita NZ Ltd will arrange free of charge modification.
